Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

We handle the entire EIA process, from initial screening and scoping right through to compiling the final Environmental Statement (or Environmental Impact Assessment Report in Scotland) for marine and coastal projects. By embedding our team into your planning and design stages, we identify and mitigate environmental issues early, reducing community impacts and securing vital marine consents.

Dredge/Construction Environmental Management Plans (DEMP / CEMP)

We design straightforward frameworks that lay out the practical steps for managing environmental risks during dredging and construction. These plans highlight potential issues early and set core mitigation and monitoring principles so that once a contractor is appointed, they can easily step in, define their specific on-site measures, and follow the required protocols to keep the project compliant.

Decommissioning Waste Assessment & Mapping

Cura Terrae maps out and assesses waste for decommissioning marine infrastructure. The team reviews material inventories, quantifies how much waste exists, and identifies the right onshore disposal routes for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Carbon Assessment

Cura Terrae calculates the carbon footprint for both the construction and operational phases of a project. Once the emissions are established, we will work directly with the project design team to identify practical mitigation measures or build more carbon efficient solutions into the project.

Air Quality

We deliver qualitative and modelled air quality studies to determine how a proposed development affects local pollution levels. Our team provides robust monitoring and impact assessments across both the construction and operational phases to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Terrestrial Noise Assessment

Our acoustics team, all members of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA), identifies noise constraints early, from site feasibility to commissioning. We model land-based noise during construction and operation to deliver practical mitigation solutions that protect local receptors and achieve regulatory sign-off.

Geo-Environmental

Our geo-environmental team provide a full range of services from initial desk based due diligence assessments through intrusive site investigation and remedial design and implementation. Our team have extensive experience in designing, managing and implementing both terrestrial and marine site investigations to inform development design, assess and address issues associated with contaminated land and sediment and provide specialist advice in relation to waste classification and disposal options for soils and sediment.

Marine and Terrestrial Archaeology

Our Archaeology and Heritage services provide independent guidance and support in all elements of the historic environment, including archaeology, historic buildings and historic landscapes. We offer both consultancy and fieldwork, from geophysics to full excavation and can manage the process from design to implementation. We can offer technical support for both terrestrial and submerged cultural heritage.

Landscape and Seascape Visual Impact Assessment

Landscape and seascape impacts are changes in the character and quality of the landscape as a result of a proposed development.  The landscape/seascape and visual impact assessment (LSVIA) identifies the areas of landscape and seascape that may be impacted as a result of the proposed development. The assessment will assess the likely effects on these receptors and identify mitigation measures to either avoid, reduce or compensate for these impacts.
